She only meant to daydream. The universe had other ideas.

​

What began as an idea has now been filmed, edited and brought to life.

​

Daydreaming is a new British romantic comedy short film, shot entirely in beautiful North Norfolk and created by an independent team of experienced film and television professionals.

​

Written by and starring Norfolk-based actor and filmmaker Laura Guest, Daydreaming blends gentle British humour, romantic escapism and genuine human vulnerability in a story about imagination, longing and the courage it takes to step out of fantasy and into real life.

Laura's screen credits include Bridgerton, Hamnet, Gangs of London, We Live in Time, Hostage, Netflix's Legends and the forthcoming feature Next Life.

The film is directed by Nathan Wiley, whose extensive screen career as an actor includes Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Greenland 2: Migration, The Diplomat and Halo.   Behind the camera is award-winning Director of Photography Pedro Cardillo ABC, whose credits include ITV's Joan, HBO's C.B. Strike: The Ink Black Heart and Grace. Pedro has worked in cinematography since 2004, is represented internationally by WPA and is a member of the Brazilian Association of Cinematography. 

The film has been edited by Rob Eden, whose editorial credits include We Live in Time, Luther: The Fallen Sun, Trigger Point and Mountainhead.

Where are we now?

​

After an extraordinary shoot in North Norfolk in February 2026, Daydreaming is now firmly in post-production.

The edit is complete and the film is now moving into professional colour and grading with Katie at Harbor Picture Company, as we continue through the final stages of sound, finishing and delivery.

And very soon, we will finally be able to share our first real glimpse of the finished film with you:

Our ambition is to give Daydreaming the strongest possible future: submitting strategically to selected UK and international film festivals, introducing the film to industry audiences and exploring its wider potential beyond the short itself.

Why are we still crowdfunding?

​

Because filming the story was only one part of making the film.

Post-production is where everything truly comes together — and where many of the less visible but essential costs of independent filmmaking appear.

​

Continued support will help us towards professional colour grading, sound finishing, music and licensing, mastering and delivery, festival submission fees, promotional materials, screenings and the many technical requirements involved in taking Daydreaming from a finished edit to a film ready to meet audiences and the industry.
